1.5 Million Euro Raised by Lions Clubs Christmas Food Appeals

The 2010 Lions Clubs Of Ireland Christmas Food Appeal has resulted in the collection of food and cash with a value in excess of 1.5 Million euro and the cash is still coming in.

Over ten thousand families in need have been supported by Lions clubs with the money raised and the food collected. "We would like to pay tribute to the general public and the business community for their generous support for the 2010 appeal" Lions club Second Vice District Governor Ciaran Mullooly said, "once again our club members have shown fantastic qualities of energy, enthusiasm and commitment to get out there and collect while the general public have responded in the most testing of times."

Collections were staged by the clubs at shopping centres and stores throughout the District in the most difficult of weather conditions in November and December. Despite frost and snow the Lions club members put out the appeal for the vulnerable and less well-off and the public responded most generously.
